Getting a good night’s sleep is essential to a healthy body and mind. If you seem to be having trouble getting a deep sleep, there are some tips and tricks you should try to get a better, more restful sleep every night to ensure you feeling your best during the day!
Go to bed at the same time every night.
It can be easy to get in the routine of not getting much sleep during the week, then trying to “catch up” on all that sleep over the weekend. This really isn’t a healthy alternative though! Your body functions better when it’s on the same sleep schedule, getting the same amount each night. Try keeping a consistent routine of getting 7-8 hours each night. Your body will thank you!
Have a signature nightly routine.
Doing the same thing each night before you try to sleep will signal to your body that it’s time to get some sleep. Try reading a book before bed, or listening to soothing music as these are calming nightly activities.
Get the temperature right.
The best temperature to sleep in at night is between 65-68 degrees Fahrenheit. Try setting your thermostat to this temperature for a more comfortable and deeper sleep.
Avoid caffeine in the afternoon.
Having caffeine, even in the afternoon, can negatively affect your sleep. Try avoiding caffeine in the afternoon, after 2 p.m., as this can diminish the amount of sleep you get at night. Instead, at night, try a caffeine-free herbal tea to calm your nerves and get you ready for sleep.
